The short version: your journal entries never leave your phone. We do not read them. We cannot read them.

What Spilled collects

When you create an account with Sign in with Apple, we receive:

  • Your name (if you choose to share it)
  • An email address (real or Apple’s private relay)
  • An anonymous Apple identifier so we can recognize you on future sign-ins

That is the entire account profile. Nothing else.

What Spilled does not collect

  • Your journal entries
  • The names you give your connections
  • The tags or scores generated from your entries
  • Any text you type into the app, ever

All of that data lives on your device. There is no Spilled server that holds your journal. There is no admin with access to it. If we wanted to read your entries, we could not.

Sign in with Apple

Spilled uses Sign in with Apple as the only sign-in method. Apple may share a private relay email with us rather than your real address. Either way, we treat the email as a contact identifier, not as a marketing list. We do not send you newsletters or promotional emails.

Pro subscribers and anonymous data

If you upgrade to Spilled Pro, the app may send anonymous numbers to help us build community insights in the future. This data is limited to scores, tag counts, and country. It never includes journal text, names, or anything that could identify you or anyone you are tracking. You can disable this in settings.

Notifications

Spilled may ask permission to send notifications, such as reminders to log an entry. All scheduling happens on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.

In-app purchases

Pro subscriptions and lifetime purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment information. Apple handles billing, refunds, and family sharing.

Children

Spilled is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

  • You can delete your account from the Settings screen at any time. This removes your account profile from our servers immediately.
  • You can delete the app to remove your journal entries from your device.
  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you by emailing us.

Data storage

Account profiles are stored on Cloudflare servers in the United States. Journal entries are not stored on any server.
